Meat Loaf

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef chuck
1 egg
1/4 cup quick-cooking oats
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried leaf marjoram
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
 
  1. In a medium bowl, thoroughly combine meat, eggs, oats, onion, half the tomato sauce, thyme, and marjoram.
  2. Shape into a loaf in a loaf dish 9" x 5".
  3. Shape load so the sides do not touchthe sides of the dish.
  4. Cover with wax paper and microwave on HIGH for 5:00.
  5. Pour off the juices.
  6. Stir in brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and mustard into the remaining tomato sauce.
  7. Spoon the mix over the load, coating entire top and sides.
  8. Give the dish a half turn.
  9. Cover with wax paper and microwave at MEDIUM LOW for 8:00 to 9:00 or until the microwave meat thermometer inserted into the center of the loaf registers 170 degrees F.
10. Cover with foil and let stand for 5:00.
11. The temperature should rise about 10 degrees F during the standing time.
